The port is located near the Gulf of Kachch, and is a well-protected natural harbour. Like every organization, Kandla port also has a mission statement which is to be considered as the economical port serving the customers in effective and efficient manner. The port officials believe in providing the service which should proved as the value for the money spent. The facilities should be recognized internationally. The workforce of the port is considered as the asset to the organization which leads to the better services and satisfied workforce. Last but not the least; the port has a system to contribute to the society and to be environment friendly.
The port have well built road network which is directly connected with the National Highway and the Railways are also serving that area at their best. The storage capacity is sufficient in the dry and wet areas, respectively. There are total six oil jetties on the port. There are certain strategies which are effectively taken into consideration for the betterment of the port in near future. The main point is to provide adequate infrastructure and competitive tariff plans. The officials are also planning to privatize the port services. In today’s’ world of internet it is also thought that the officials will provide the help online through the program named as E-customer relationship management. Attempts to overcome weakness and threats are also an effective manner to enhance the facilities at the port. Additional storage area will also be added with lesser amount of money used.
The aspiration of the port officials is to enhance the customer service, initializing high-quality services related to Information Technology. Attracting investment from the private sector is also on the top list for the betterment of the port. The port is well connected by railways and roadways. One more major aspect of the port operations running smoothly is that the night navigations are also very much effective. The storage facilities on the port are also remarkable, sufficient open area is available for assembling bulk cargoes approximately 30 000tonnes cargoes can be assembled for import and export. Fire safety systems are also installed on the port. In coming time there are some up gradations to be done on the port, as a new Coal berth will be constructed, along with a ship building yard. The changes and the up gradations are to be done soon to help the officials of the port in a better manner.
