Mormugao Port is considered as one of the oldest ports in the western region of India, having a natural harbour. A huge amount of Iron Ore is exported from the port throughout the year which covers almost 33% of the total Iron Ore export throughout India. The workforce of the port is highly dedicated and is efficient enough to take the port on the top of the list.
There are certain facilities on the port, as: The vessel traffic management system is which provides highly refined radar system for the control and the traffic in the channels inside the port. Number of navigational aids is provided at the port which is operational round the clock. The communication system on the north-west area of the port is also operating round the clock.
The compulsory movement of the ships is done in an efficient manner with the help of the Pilotage system. There are around four transhippers used as per the loading capacity which is about 15000tpd and are used by the private exporters. The port is well connected by Railways and roadways having sufficient water supply.
There are a number of upcoming projects undertaken by the port for its own betterment, different berths are been constructed on the port. The capacity of the long narrow flat bottomed boat will be increased to accommodate more products. The MOHP is also been under modification recently. Overall facilities have been provided to the officials for getting better results and which can also help in increasing their productivity.
