The Mumbai Port Trust, which was established in the year 1873 having the mission to be reliable and to provide above average services to the customers. It is all possible by giving clear idea of the policies, rules and regulations to the customers and providing training to the employees.
The port is situated almost in the middle way of West coast of India, and is nearly 134 years old, which is a remarkable in all its ways. The port attracts a huge business with the help of cargo traffic. The year 2006-07 has remarkable achievements in its kitty for the port, which created records in loading a huge amount of commodities. There are numerous facilities on the Port as: huge storage area, widespread road network, the port has its own Railway network connected to the main line.
The port is covered with three dockyards with total area of 46.30 hectares. Each dockyard was specially made in efficient manner. The Government has laid down many schemes for the glowing future of the port. The Japan government decided to plan efficiently for the progress of the port in 1996, and it was assigned to undertake certain changes. The Japan Government will be framing a master plan for the growth of the port for the time of the year 2017-18. The Government has also carried out a study on the plan for growth for the year 2007. The cost involved in the development of the port is approximately Rs.17 billion. There are many positive changes which are been made in the Port.
