This port is the only Indian port with International Accreditations namely ISO14001, ISO 9001 and few more. There is an Emergency Control Center and Fire Control Office for the safety of the officials at Port. The Control Room present there also functions round the clock to handle any unforeseen emergency situation. This port is among one of the major port of India since the year 2000 which is handling the highest traffic among important ports. The port also caters highest Railway Traffic among major ports annually.
The port is having a number of facilities like Harbour facility; Navigational facilities are very helpful for the officials as working is going on continuously day and night. The port also caters bulk handling with efficiency. The container handling facility is remarkable in its operations. The terminal is deepest across the globe which facilitates in arranging the main line vessels. The port also has a facility of tracing for the container through internet. The port is well connected through Railways and Roadways for better results. The water supply on the port is tremendous as there is an underground water source. Security issues are also been taken care at the Port which helps the officials to work without any stopover.
There are a number of upcoming projects undertaken by the port for its own betterment, different berths are been constructed on the port. The capacity of the long narrow flat bottomed boat will be increased to accommodate more products. The MOHP is also been under modification recently. Overall facilities have been provided to the officials for getting better results and which can also help in increasing their productivity.
