Ground or surface water with a high salt content is generally considered as brackish water. This water can be used as drinking or process water, however it must be treated by some kind of desalinating process. Dependent on the TDS of raw water, RO is considered to be one of the most effective and economical systems for this purpose. The design and construction of a brackish water desalination plant depends on the TDS, the water analysis and the purity of the available brackish water. Thus, each plant must be designed individually and constructed according to these conditions. In this case, the cost of the plant and the water it produces will be considerably high.
