Gherkins (Cucumis anguria L.) also called as Pickling Cucumber belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae. It is a monoceious, annual, trailing vine with slender, rough hairy stem, tendrils small, leaves wide, scabrous, deeply three parted, staminate flowers in cluster, pistillate flowers solitary on a long, hirsute peduncle. Fruit oval to oblong with greenish stripes and prickly.
