Established in 1962 in collaboration with Horstmann Gauge & Metrology Ltd. England to manufacture Thread Gauges, the HIP division of Baker Gauges India Limited has scaled numerous heights in the past 40 years. The single-minded pursuit of quality and excellence right from the inception has its rewards and today, quality conscious customers world over prefer HIP make Thread Gauges for their gauging requirements. In tune with the modern thinking and in order to have a world class quality system to back world class products, the division went for ISO 9001 certification way back in 1997. It is worthwhile to note that in India, there are only two companies from Metrology field which have been awarded the coveted ISO 9001 certificate - the other company being, the BMI division of Baker Gauges India Limited.

HIP signed one more collaboration with Feinmess of Germany, this time to manufacture external micrometers. True to its tradition, soon micrometers manufactured by HIP started appearing in product catalogues of prominent distributors all over the world.

Substantial experience gained during establishing HIP was used to start the BMI division of Baker Gauges India Limited in 1974 in collaboration with Thomas Mercer Ltd, England to manufacture dial gauges, air gauges and electronic gauges in India. Today, dial gauges manufactured by the BMI Division are exported to more than 46 countries all over the world. Subsequently, in order to bring Swiss precision to India, two more collaborations were signed with PFL Mesures S. A. and Pretec A.G.

Right from the beginning, the company focussed its attention on special gauging requirements of its customers-mainly automobile and its ancillary manufacturers. Today, in India the BMI division is regarded as the number one source for all customized gauging solutions. Recently, the company has entered into a highly technical and specialized line of computerized gauging solutions with SPC software. The company has already won loyalty of its blue chip customers in this new hi-tech area. The calibration laboratory of the BMI division is accredited by NABL for compliance with ISO 17025 standard.

Baker Gauges India Private Limited has won Export Excellence Award of the Government of India for the last more than 10 consecutive years in the category Precision Instruments all types.
