Scrap rubber (natural or synthetic) is prepared for reuse and is known as reclaimed rubber. Fragmented scrap is digested in hot caustic solution to which reclaiming agents have been added to produce reclaimed rubber. Reclaimed rubber is used to blend with virgin rubber, or for manufacturing low-grade rubber products.
