Process Device Manager

SIMATIC PDM (Process Device Manager) software is a vendor-independent configuration tool for field devices that support PROFIBUS, HART or other communication.

This software tool is used for:

Parameter setup
Address assignment
Commissioning and diagnostics of the device
The software contains an extensive library of devices from leading manufactures. In addition to Siemens’ actuators, sensor transmitters and analyzers, devices for Endress+Hauser, Rosemount, Krohne, SMAR, Vega and other manufacturers are included. New devices are easily imported into the library by obtaining the Electronic Device Description (EDD) from the device manufacturer.
The Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL) conforms to the CENELEC Standard EN50391.
Standardization within IEC (IEC 61804-2) is in progress.
EDD is a standard for PROFIBUS, HART and Foundation Field bus.

The standard library of SIMATIC PDM contains more than 1000 devices of more than 100 manufacturers.

SIMATIC PDM v5.2 (SP1) is compatible with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. PDM can be installed separately on a PC or laptop and function as a stand alone utility. This is ideal for instrumentation technicians. It can also be installed in a STEP 7 system as an integral tool of the SIMATIC S7 Configuration and Programming Utility, or SIMATIC PCS7 Process Control System.
