Black sesame seeds are comparable to the more universal white sesame seeds. Black sesame seeds are not hulled, brown (golden) sesame seeds retain their hulls too, and the white seeds are hulled which exposes their true seed color. The Black Sesame Seed is less common and has a more intense flavor than the White Sesame. Black sesame seed are mostly good on salmon and other fish. Its high protein content makes sesame popular with the health food industry. Sesame seeds are believed to be one of the worlds' first spices. Though they are considered a culinary treat in many places, sesame seeds also have various medicinal uses.
