L & T-Demag Plastics Machinery Limited is a Joint Venture company between Larsen & Toubro Limited, one of India's largest engineering conglomerates and Demag Plastics Group, Europe's leading maker of injection molding machines. L & T started manufacturing injection molding machines in 1990 with the introduction of the "D series" of advanced injection molding machines in association with Mannesmann Demag Kunstofftechnik (MDKT) , the erstwhile Demag Plastics Group. The association with Demag Plastics Group, led to a 50: 50 Joint venture in 2002 and the joint venture company, L & T-Demag Plastics Machinery Limited, soon emerged as a leading injection molding solutions provider in India. L & T-Demag has become the market leader and the most preferred supplier in India and abroad. Its new facility near Chennai houses some of the most advanced facilities for design and research in control systems, hydraulics and mechanical construction. It can currently produce up to a thousand machines every year in clamping forces from 400kN to 13000kN.
