This plant known as curculigo blossoms (Curculigo Orchioides) out of the root of the plant and is yellow in color. The fruit of the plant has protein that is called curculin that has a similar effect like miracle fruit. This plant is vulnerable to heat as it is protein and hence needs to be preserved in frozen. Curculin has two different functions, one is same as miraculin whereas the other gives a water sweet taste. It has been given a green chit by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to be used as an additive.
