Service Description
Introduction :
Linux based application for Indian languages

LISM, Indian Script Font Code (ISFOC) Manager for LINUX platform, enables the use of Indian languages on LINUX based applications. LISM is the ideal multilingual office automation solution for Indian language word processing and data processing, on-line communication, publishing – including web publishing and other applications.

Salient Features:
    *      Allows word processing on Linux systems- The user can create documents and text files in Indian Languages using Linux based word processor and text editors.
    *      Works in multiple documents simultaneously.
    *      Supports ten Indian scripts- Assamese, Bengali, Devnagari, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
    *      Bilingual support- The user can create documents using two scripts simultaneously i.e. English script and any one of the Indian scripts.
    *      Keyboard Layout- Presently LISM supports Inscript Keyboard layout.

LISM has been successfully tested for gEdit and gNotepad on Red Hat Linux version 7.0/7.1/7.2 and is presently being developed to be compatible to Star Office (Sun Product).

Users are required to keep in mind that LISM retains context for 500 words. After this it considers the paragraph as terminated and starts a new paragraph. Once the user clicks the mouse button or presses the escape key, the current paragraph is considered as terminated and the user will be unable to modify syllable in the typed text. Thus working simultaneously in two documents is not advised.

LISM considers the paragraph to start from the cursor position, while switching from normal mode to editing mode and ends on the enter key or any event mentioned above. Also when in the editing mode the pointer should not be used to position cursor.
